Johnston is pleased to announce the promotion of Melissa Wright to Managing Director. Since joining Johnston in 2015, Melissa has added tremendous value to the company by managing large programs and projects for multiple clients, gaining trusted relationships with clients, expanding our market presence, and implementing new ideas and procedures throughout each department, among many other successes to our brand and office culture. Melissa’s strategic guidance and direction will continue to ensure Johnston achieves its vision, mission, and long-term strategic goals. Melissa has over 20 years of industry experience, having worked for national architectural, engineering and construction firms directing marketing, business development and operational activities. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Houston – Clear Lake and is a board member for the SMPS—Society for Marketing Professional Services.

We are pleased to announce the addition of William Lofstrom, P.E. LEED AP BD C to the MEP Engineering team as Senior Mechanical Engineer! Bill has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Montana State University. He has extensive past experience working on new K-12 educational facilities, data centers, central plants, mixed-use towers, commercial buildings, and many more. We are excited to have him at Johnston!
Samantha Smith joined Johnston in 2018 and since then has always brought her “A” game with consistent design considerations and team support. She has a great ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, offering the plumbing team great depth through her care and creativity. Fun fact about Sam is she loves gardening and has over 100 plants and counting! She definitely has the green thumb of the office. She also loves Twizzlers. Good thing Halloween is around the corner – all the candy opportunities!
Lori Hernandez serves as a plumbing designer for Johnston’s MEP Engineering department. She is a tremendous problem solver and always pushes for the highest quality and efficiency for her projects. Lori’s personal goal for 2020 is to read 24 books and she’s already at 16 for the year! Most of them being part of her favorite genres – sci-fi, fantasy, and history. When she’s not reading, she loves baking all kinds of desserts. The office can definitely confirm that they are absolutely delicious! We can’t wait to try her fall treats.
Robbie Schwarz joined Johnston’s MEP Engineering department in 2018 as a Mechanical Engineer-in-Training. Since then, he has grown considerably in his technical abilities and is always willing to lend a helping hand to his colleagues. His positivity and willingness for a challenge are a big part of what makes this department so successful. Fun fact about Robbie is that he is a triplet! He is also a semi-pro water skier! Next time you see him, ask him to share some of his exciting skiing stories.
Since joining Johnston as an Electrical Engineer-in-Training in 2019, Sally Hassan‘s previous contractor knowledge and experience have added much value to the MEP team. She is not afraid to ask questions and push herself to continue learning all she can from her teammates. At home, Sally’s creative skills translate into fun DIY home decor projects and experimenting with new recipes. Wilson Moreno joined Johnston in 2018 as an electrical designer. Along with his technical skills and experience, Wilson brought loads of positive energy and enthusiasm for a good design challenge. Fun fact about Wilson: He got to celebrate New Year’s twice! “Around 2003 when I was in the military stationed in Japan, I flew home on New Year’s Eve late evening, while in the air we celebrated the New Year before changing time zones. Then when I landed in Houston, I got to celebrate it again!” Talk about good timing!
Smita Mathur serves as a design professional for Johnston’s architecture department. She has quickly become an emerging leader in her role here, challenging the status quo to help raise the bar on our architectural standards in practices. Something about Smita you may not know is that she loves photography. You will catch her with a camera strapped around her shoulder ready to capture some beautiful architectural elements or a fun photo shoot with her family. When you see her next, ask her to show you some of her incredible work! Smita also loves to build fun and interesting designs she creates herself. She is sure to place top ranks among her co-workers during Johnston’s annual Halloween costume contest!
Daniel Reyes joined Johnston’s MEP Engineering team in early 2018 as an electrical designer. Since then, he has utilized his past work experience immensely and created a true constructability process for electrical design here at Johnston. Some things you may not know about Danny is that he has backpacked to 23 different countries over the past few years! He has also been a wedding DJ for the past 9 years and is an incredible salsa dancer. Last year, Danny finished his first entry-level triathlon which took many months to train for, but he did it! Keep living life to the fullest, Danny!
Since joining Johnston as a design professional in 2019, Andrea Marino‘s versatility and enthusiasm make architecture better. She has a willingness to grow and take on more responsibilities, including mentoring colleagues. Andrea loves to cook but she’ll never use a mandoline again… We can only imagine the stories she has! Andrea also loves to travel and enjoys the outdoors whenever possible. Check out the photo of her kayaking near Breckenridge, Colorado!
