The building remained fully operational during the aggressive construction schedule. The project was completed 3 months early and on budget despite site challenges with limited downtown laydown area and record rainfall events. This was a well-coordinated efforts by all involved and recognized by receiving the 2016 International Concrete Repair Institute Award of Excellence for High-Rise Construction.

Johnston collaborated with the County to improve repair the cracks, corrosion and settling concrete exterior of the 40-year-old 1001 Preston Building located in the center of downtown Houston. The 16-floor renovation of this County headquarters building required epoxy injection, concrete patching, carbon fiber strengthening, waterproofing and post-tensioned repairs.
